Vesu's aka Vesa-Matti Kivioja represents the underground sound of the west coast Finland. Gaining interest for everything audio related from early on, he initiated his own productions in the late 90's followed by record collecting and DJing. After playing in different bands throughout the years, Vesa-Matti wanted to put his main focus on his own productions. Fast forward to 2011, he launched live acts that consist of techno, house, dubby electronica and ambient, often tailored especially for events. Vesa-Matti's debut release, "Lopun Ajat" was released by Ljudverket in 2013 followed by more EP's on Labrynth (US), Subself (UKR) and 89:Ghost (UK). His first album was released in 2015 on cassette by Finnish label Kaukana Väijyy Ambient.
The same year he launched his own imprint Snakesynk with a 12-track album. Studio Barnhus (SWE) released his track "World is a disko dub" on their first label compilation in 2018, where Vesa-Matti goes by using another alias, "Torolf Stendik". He's also co-running the Ostrobothnia Power Discs and a member of the Meltdown Deejays collective which was founded in his hometown back in 1993. Vesa-Matti's latest pseudonym, Vesu, is a project concentrating on tribal, percussive vibes with some deep, glacial and dubby rhythms. His performance on this years Visio festival will be spiced up with some deeper house vibes at the HPTY stage. Keep your eyes open on labels like Going Good and Vieno for future releases!
